Trace Adkins readies new album, media blitz
Trace Adkins will stay on the road through the end the year to support his forthcoming album "X," which is due next month.
The hard-working country star, who's been touring all year, continues Saturday (11/1) with a gig at Nashville's famed Grand Ole Opry. He'll spend the rest of the month finishing a North American run with Alan Jackson and stopping by Nashville once again to perform at the Nov. 12 CMA Awards, where he's up for two trophies for his hit "You're Gonna Miss This."
In December, Adkins is set to headline a half-dozen US arenas before joining Lynyrd Skynyrd [ tickets ] for a New Year's Eve extravaganza that covers two time zones. The performers will play in Pikeville, KY, and Nashville on the same night--each act opening the show in one city then traveling across state lines to close the show in the other, according to a press release.
In addition to his road work, Adkins is gearing up for a major television, print and online media blitz to promote "X," his 10th album for Capitol Records Nashville. The set, due Nov. 25, teams the singer with producer Frank Rogers, who produced Adkins' most recent studio effort, "Dangerous Man."
The forthcoming album's lead single, "Muddy Water," is currently climbing the country charts and tearing up the country music television networks. The video, which features Adkins' "Celebrity Apprentice" co-star Stephen Baldwin, is streaming at his MySpace page.
Adkins' slew of upcoming television appearances include the GAC network special "Trace Adkins: X (Ten) Days," which documents the star's recent USO trip to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he performed 11 shows in 10 days for 10,000 service members. The program premieres Nov. 25.
Fans can also catch Adkins on the big screen in the film "An American Carol," in which he portrays the Angel of Death. The movie was released earlier this month.
