Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.

"Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, or even a stranger, if in a lonely place. Show respect to all people, but grovel to none. When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." -- Tecumseh, (1768-1813) Shawnee Chief

Factional Battle, Political Violence Hit Somalia Over Oil Tanker Hijacking

Mogadishu, Somalia (AHN) - Islamic militants in Somalia are angry at the seizure by pirates of the Saudi Arabian oil tanker Sirius Star, resulting in their attempted attack at the port of Haradheere where the hijacked vessel in moored and where majority of the pirates reside.

While threats are being made by Islamists in Haradheere, political violence occurred in the capital city of Mogadishu leading to the death of 17 people following an attack on the residence of a local government official.

Muslim outlook at the issue of piracy is divided. Some Islamists denounce the practice, while others may keep silent or turn a blind eye because of possible financial gains they will make if they receive a portion of ransom paid by companies of captives.

The pirate are demanding a $25 million ransom to be delivered within 10 days in exchange for the freedom of the international crew.

Some sectors, however, have expressed concern over the planned Islamist attack on the pirate lair since the group is notorious for blowing up the vessels they hijack when a rescue attempt is made. If that happens, aside from 25 potential lost lives, destruction of the vessel will pose a hazard to the environment with the potential release of tons of petroleum on the Red Sea.

Meanwhile, the UN gave India permission, based on a UN resolution, to run after the pirates on Somali's water. Upon receiving the UN green light, New Delhi immediately dispatched a warship to the Gulf of Aden. The Indian Navy also plans to deploy the INS Mysore destroyer to the gulf early next week. source>>>

Sadr followers rally in Baghdad against pact with U.S.

BAGHDAD: More than 10,000 supporters of the radical Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr gathered in Baghdad's Firdos Square on Friday to protest the Iraqi government plan to sign a security agreement with the United States.

With powerful symbolism, demonstrators hanged a black-hooded effigy of President George W. Bush from the column that once supported the statue of Saddam Hussein that was toppled by U.S. troops in April 2003.

Removing the hood to beat the effigy with a shoe, they put a whip in its right hand and in its left a briefcase, on which were written the words, "the security agreement is shame and dishonor."

The government of Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki this week signed the pact, which would place new limits on the powers of U.S. troops in Iraq but provides for them to stay in the country up to the end of 2011, if the Iraqis so desire. The agreement still needs to be approved by Parliament and the country's three-man Presidency Council.

Maliki has sought to present the agreement as one that significantly extends the authority his government can exercise over U.S. forces. He has criticized the pact's opponents, saying that they have consistently failed to come up with any alternative.

It provides for U.S. forces to withdraw from Iraqi towns by mid-2009, and leave the country entirely by the end of 2011. American troops on duty will operate under American military law, but if they are off duty and outside their bases they could be tried in Iraqi courts if they commit serious crimes.

Parliament is expected to vote on the agreement Monday after sometimes rowdy sessions over the past week, during which the Sadrists and other groups have expressed their opposition, or sought concessions from Maliki's government to secure their votes.

Parliament was not sitting Friday, the Muslim holy day, when the opposition rally was held.

It was billed as a cross-faith rally attended by Shiite and Sunni preachers, but the vast majority of those in attendance appeared to be Sadrists, chanting "Moktada! Moktada!" "No, no to America!' and "No, no to the agreement!"

The protesters, many of whom travelled from the cleric's Baghdad stronghold of Sadr City, sat in rows of 50 stretching back almost half a kilometer. They filled Sadoun Street, beside the Palestine Hotel and in front of the colonnaded traffic circle where five years ago American troops pulled down the dictator's statue in scenes televised around the world.

Sadrist officials said they opposed the security agreement because they did not believe assurances that the Americans would leave. They depicted the pact as a successor to colonial-era treaties with Western powers over the past century which, they said, had "sold the Arab and the Muslim lands into occupation."

Reading from a statement by Sadr, one of his followers, Sheik Abdelhadi al-Muhammadawi, said: "America has not and will not be useful. It is the enemy of Islam."

To cheers and cries of "God is great," he continued: "The love of Iraq calls us not to let the foot of the atheists on our ground and to not permit them to stay three minutes, not three years."

Quteiba al-Nadawi, a Sunni preacher, told the crowd: "We have rejected this agreement from the beginning. We are supporting our brothers the Sadrists and we are supporting all honorable Iraqis who reject this agreement. We need freedom for our people and unity for Iraqis."

Iraqi security forces took up positions on rooftops and a mosque overlooking Firdos Square. There was no sign of U.S. forces, and the protest was peaceful throughout.

Maliki's ruling coalition may secure a majority of votes in Parliament but Iraq's most influential Shiite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, has indicated that he believes the deal will only be acceptable to the Iraqi people if it achieves some degree of consensus.

This means Maliki must get some support from Iraq's Sunni minority, many of whom are nervous about seeing American troops depart, fearing Iran and its Shiite allies in Baghdad. source>>>

Hillary Clinton reportedly accepts Barack Obama's Cabinet offer

Sen. Hillary Rodam Clinton has decided to accept the role of secretary of state, the New York Times reports.

The news, if confirmed, means that Clinton will give up her New York Senate seat to become the nation's top diplomat in an administration led by her former rival, Barack Obama.

The Ticket reported earlier today that talks between Clinton and the president-elect were progressing. Obama asked the former first lady and runner-up for the Democratic presidential nomination to fill the role last week. Since then, she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, have undergone intense vetting.

Clinton made her foreign policy experience a selling point during the primaries, telling crowds that as first lady she visited 80 countries. During the battle for the Democratic nomination, she and her husband often criticized Obama for lacking the foreign policy credentials necessary to be president.

But after Obama clinched the nomination, Clinton campaigned hard for him. She made Obama's short list for vice president, but lost out to Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware. Clinton would become only the third woman in U.S. history to hold that post, after Condoleeza Rice and Madeline Albright.

We will update with official confirmation. Meanwhile, Peter Nicholas of the LA Times has a smart piece about the Clinton-Obama negotiations.

StubHub buys ticket broker software company Ticket Technology

In a move that the company said allows it to improve its relationship with large-volume ticket sellers, StubHub announced today that it bought ticket broker software company Ticket Technology for an undisclosed price.

Spearheaded by former National Association of Ticket Brokers President Russ Lindmark, Ticket Technology has more than 150 clients, and its software is used by some of the secondary ticket market's larger companies, including Lindmark's other company Ticket Solutions; Boston's Ace Ticket; and Texas-based Golden Tickets.

"The acquisition of Ticket Technology will enable StubHub to provide point-of-sale services that will streamline the listing process for our large seller customers and help ensure StubHub inventory is refreshed in real time with the market," StubHub President Chris Tsakalakis said in a statement. "With the valuable software developed by Ticket Technology we can help ensure StubHub continues to be the number one destination to buy and sell tickets."

In addition, the deal ups the ante in the secondary ticket market because it potentially opens up another avenue of competition, sales platforms. StubHub will now join industry leaders TicketNetwork, parent company of TicketNews, and Ticketmaster Entertainment's TicketsNow in offering brokers point-of-sale platforms.

"This acquisition, and the competition in general, signals that all the major players intend to invest in seller systems and compete for the brokers' business, which is great for brokers," said Mike Janes, CEO and co-founder of ticket search company FanSnap. "More importantly, it is great for fans because better systems will directly lead to better service."

Florida teen kills self in front of live webcam

A Florida teenager committed suicide by drug overdose in front of a webcam streaming live video to the Internet and some viewers may have egged him on, authorities said on Friday.

Abraham Biggs Jr., 19, was found in the bedroom of his home in Pembroke Pines, Florida, on Wednesday and an autopsy showed he died of a toxic combination of opiates and benzodiazepine, a drug used to treat anxiety and insomnia, the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office said.

"We have ruled it a suicide. Part of the terminal event was recorded on a website and there was streaming video," said Dr. Steve Cina, deputy chief medical examiner of Broward County.

A police spokesman said detectives were investigating the case but would not release any details.

Biggs had written blogs about his intentions and some of the viewers who were watching the event live may have goaded him on, Cina said.

"There is some indication of that, yes," he said.

In a purported suicide note posted by Miami television station WPLG on its website, Biggs said: "I hate myself and I hate living."

The note said he had "thought about and attempted suicide many times in the past."

The Miami Herald newspaper said another suicide in Broward County was broadcast live on the Internet a few years ago.

Last year, a 42-year-old man killed himself in front of a webcam in what was believed to be Britain's first suicide on the Internet. Viewers saw him climb onto a chair, tie a rope around a ceiling joist and hang himself. source>>>

Ford's Theatre will celebrate with one week of public and private events honoring Abraham Lincoln's life and legacy. The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Campaign, a $50 million capital campaign to support the renovation of Ford's Theatre and its museum as well as the building of the new Center for Education and Leadership, has raised $43 million to date.

"In February, Ford's Theatre will reopen its door to once again inspire visitors by celebrating the life and legacy of President Lincoln," Reynolds said. "This is the most extensive renovation of the site since 1968, and we are excited to offer visitors an enhanced experience that will educate them about Lincoln while letting them share in his love for the performing arts."

"We are thrilled that the reopening of Ford's Theatre will coincide with the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth," Tetreault added. "In honor of this event, we will reopen the theatre with the world premiere of The Heavens Are Hung In Black, a play about Abraham Lincoln in 1863, one of the most crucial years of his presidency. This play, along with many special events, will provide a magnificent tribute to our greatest president."

"Ford's Theatre is in the midst of a major expansion project to enhance the visitor experience at this historic site, and we are immensely thankful to all of the donors who have supported our capital campaign," said Rex W. Tillerson, Chairman of the Ford's Theatre Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Campaign and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees. "In addition to renovating the theatre and the museum, we are expanding our education programming and preparing to build a new Center for Education and Leadership that will focus on the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln. The reopening of the theatre is the beginning of an exciting new phase."

"We are very excited about the 40-year partnership between the National Park Service and Ford's Theatre Society, which exemplifies the type of partnerships NPS desires to have with its collaborators," Elder said. "We are pleased with the progression of the renovations, and we are highly anticipating the reopening of the theatre and the museum as well as the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth."

Community gardens make comeback

Once a staple of traditional Cherokee life, community gardens have slowly disappeared through the years, especially with the availability of mass produced food.

But the Cherokee Nation has funded and started some community gardens to help revive the tradition and help citizens throughout the Nation. And with the rising cost of food, these community garden projects could not have come at a better time.

The gardens are part of a Community Services program, said CN Community Work Manager Willard Mounce, and that it gives an opportunity for community organizations to provide youth and elder services.

"The youth could be taught how to plant and grow crops and learn responsibility," he said. "It could allow the elders an opportunity to contribute to the welfare of the community. There are several ways to work this program to the benefit of the community."

One community garden started through the program is the Tailholt community garden. Tammy Marshall, Tailholt citizen, said the garden was a great benefit to the elders in their community.

"Everything we grew we gave to the nutrition program at Tailholt," she said
The garden was started late in the year, but she said they fruited cucumbers, okra, squash and watermelons.

Marshall added that communities should take advantage of the program if there are individuals willing to perform the work it takes to garden, as well as for the elders.

"They (CN citizens) need to take advantage of it (the community garden program at CN) because it's so important for the elderly to eat healthy, nutritious foods," she said.

Marshall said Tailholt citizens did what they thought was important, using foods to cook for about 18 to 25 elders three days a week at their community building.

The project's purpose is to fund and start co-op type community gardens to provide healthy food choices and fresh seasonal produce for low-income Cherokee citizens.

Communities have five eligibility requirements they must meet to utilize the program's funds: the garden project must be located with the CN jurisdiction; the majority of the individuals benefiting from this project must be CN citizens; the majority of the governing board of the organization applying must be CN citizens, and if there isn't an organized board, those who will be responsible for this project must be Cherokee citizens; the Cherokee community must submit a summary of the project; and individuals must be willing to track volunteer work hours and submit a monthly progress report for their project.

Another stipulation is the produce grown in the gardens is not allowed to be sold, but must be given away to the residents of that community who are Cherokee citizens.
But it's not just communities that have gotten into gardening. The tribe's Natural Resources group has a garden next to the Tribal Council House, located on the W.W. Keeler Complex in Tahlequah.

Its primary purpose is to grow enough garden plants to have a large supply of seeds.
"We wanted to developed a seed bank so that we could give them out, similar to the turkey feather program," said Pat Gwin, Natural Resources supervisor. "We grew out 12 different species of garden plants."

He said the group started the garden in 2007 and even met with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians as a cultural seed and plant exchange. Gwin said the Natural Resources group gave the Eastern Band seeds for trees that it didn't have in North Carolina, while the Eastern Band gave Natural Resources historical crop seeds.

Gwin said one plant the group has grown a lot of this season is Cherokee White Eagle corn or "Trail of Tears corn."

He said the group started with 20 to 50 seeds and have now grown nearly 50 pounds of corn. The group also bagged up 2,000 small bags of corn seeds for Principal Chief Chad Smith to give out as gifts at his Cherokee National Holiday address to the Nation.

In addition to growing the corn, Gwin said his group grew three other types of corn, one type of squash, two types of gourds, 10 types of beans and the traditional ceremonial tobacco plant.

Natural Resources also operates a program where it helps plow Cherokee citizens' home gardens prior to planting season. Gwin said the majority of those who utilize this service are older citizens who can no longer do it themselves.

"We plow up 40 and 60 homes (gardens) each year before planting season," he said.
For more information on starting a home garden call Natural Resources at (918) 453-5671. For information on community gardens, call Community Services at (918) 453-5233. source>>>

Ticketmaster seeks to seal CEO Sean Moriartys deposition in StubHub lawsuit

With speculation swirling throughout the industry that ticketing's two top dogs, Ticketmaster Entertainment and StubHub may have settled a nearly two-year-old lawsuit between them, TicketNews has learned that Ticketmaster is separately seeking to seal a recent deposition in the case by President and CEO Sean Moriarty because of its potentially sensitive nature.

In a California Superior Court filing this month obtained by TicketNews, Ticketmaster is trying to keep Moriarty's testimony, and that of the company's former Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing David Goldberg, from being made public, based on some prior agreements between the litigants on what may be withheld.

"The excerpts of the deposition testimony of Ticketmaster CEO Sean Moriarty has been designated by Ticketmaster as 'Highly Confidential - Outside Attorneys' Eyes Only,' and the excerpts of the deposition testimony of former Ticketmaster Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing David Goldberg has been designated 'Highly Confidential -Attorneys' Eyes Only,' pursuant to the joint stipulations and protective orders entered by the court on December 6, 2007 and February 13, 2008 (governing the designation of documents as 'Highly Confidential - Attorneys' Eyes Only,' and governing the designation of documents as 'Outside Counsels' Eyes Only,' respectively)," the motion stated.

In April 2007, Ticketmaster sued StubHub, and its parent company eBay, for alleged contract infringement for StubHub's part in offering premium tickets to the Rowdy Frynds Tour featuring Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. Ticketmaster accused StubHub of infringing on exclusive contracts for which Ticketmaster had ticket-selling rights for events at all but two of the 20 venues the tour booked.

The case is tentatively set to go to trial on April 28, 2009, just over two years from when it was initially filed, but speculation persists throughout the industry that the two sides may have settled, or are close to settling the case. According to an attorney familiar with the case, the motion to seal the depositions and the penciled in trial date does not mean the two sides are not talking or have not reached an agreement.

However, neither side is confirming anything. Ticketmaster spokesperson Albert Lopez did not respond to a message seeking comment, and StubHub spokesperson Sean Pate told TicketNews that he did not have any information from the legal team on the matter at this time.

Ticketmaster's lead attorney on the case, Steven Sletten of the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, could not be reached for comment.

"Moreover, there is a substantial probability that Ticketmaster will be prejudiced if the Confidential Testimony is not sealed because the deposition excerpts at issue contain discussions of highly-sensitive confidential business information of Ticketmaster, including, but not limited to, Ticketmaster's overarching business strategy and its reasons for acquiring interests in Frontline Management and SLO Limited, Inc., as well as confidential discussions had during the acquisition negotiations with representatives from these entities. Ticketmaster has specifically sought to keep this information confidential from the public, and in some instances, from StubHub, by invoking the protective orders. StubHub has not objected to the prior designation of the Confidential Testimony," the motion stated.

Besides involving the two biggest players in the ticketing industry, the case has embroiled outside parties, such as TicketNews, which successfully defended a subpoena from StubHub to turn over a recording of a May 2008 meeting between Ticketmaster and broker clients. source>>>

Palestinian Muslim columnist speaks up for persecuted Christian minority in the Middle East

Christians in the Middle East have been facing much discrimination, harassment and persecution in recent years, and very often the perpetrators are members of the Muslim majority. The number of Christians in the Middle East has been declining continually over past decades, and there is fear that in some countries, such as Iraq, there is a real push to drive out the whole Christian community.

On 25 October the Palestinian columnist, 'Abd Al-Nasser Al-Najjar, wrote a column for the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam, focussing on this persecution of Christians in Arab countries. 'Abd Al-Nasser Al-Najjar, himself a Muslim, warned that the expulsion of Christians and the attempt to denounce them as "infidels" was causing great damage to the Arab culture, of which Christians are an essential and original part. In his article he criticised the fact that no one dared to come to the help of persecuted Christian minorities in the Middle East and he condemned the unwillingness of Arab intellectuals, the elite, non-government organisations and leaders of the private sector to act on behalf of Christians. The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a non-profit organisation that translates and analyses the media of the Middle East, translated the article into English and published the following excerpts on its website.

"In Iraq, a crime is currently being committed - another in a series of iniquities brought by the winds of change that came in the wake of the [U.S.] occupation, which sought to impregnate Iraq with the seed of democracy. [But] the [resulting] fetus emerged deformed and weird. The worst outcome of this situation is, possibly, the carnage against ethnic communities and minorities that has swept through Iraq. Neither Sunnis, nor Shi'ites, nor Christians, nor Kurds, nor Turkmen, nor [members of] other [groups] have managed to escape it.

"However, the string of murders and expulsions of Christians, which has been going on for several months, is by far the most grievous - [and] it [must be taken as] a warning that hostility and crimes against minorities may spread to the neighboring countries [as well].

"Christians are being persecuted not only in Iraq, but in most Arab countries, regardless of their numbers there. They are subjected to every possible kind of discrimination, as well as expulsion. The problem is that it is not only Arab officials who are remaining silent [in the face of these crimes] - [they do so] because their primitive mentality is centered on the cult of the ruler - but, alarmingly, so are Arab intellectuals, the elites, non-government organizations, and leaders of the private sector. All these groups look on at these unprecedented [acts of] folly without apprehending the danger with which these crimes are fraught.

"Statistics show that in 2005 the number of Christians in Iraq was as high as 800,000. By early 2008, it had dropped by half, [indicating] that 50 percent of Iraqi Christians had been expelled from their homes and lands.

"Today, this problem is also rampant in Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria, and Palestine - and while the situation may be slightly different in Palestine, the trend is the same.

"Let us be honest with ourselves and courageously say out loud that Palestinian Christians are taking many severe blows, yet are suffering in silence so as not to attract attention. I do not refer here to the suffering caused by the occupation... but to actions of the past 20 years at least - that is, since the beginning of the occupation in 1967 - involving the confiscation of Christian property, especially in Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Al-Birah.

"What makes things worse is that those who are plundering [the Christians'] property are either powerful [in their own right] or are backed by various elements, among them high-ranking military officials or influential members of large clans.

Tour director Christian Prudhomme confirms that the 2010 edition of the race will start in Rotterdam.

The Tour's 97th edition will start on July 3 and the route for the stage will be unveiled in Rotterdam on December 11.

Rotterdam won the nod ahead of fellow-Dutch city Utrecht while German city Dusseldorf had also expressed an interest.

Tour director Christian Prudhomme said: "Rotterdam is a great metropolis and (as the start venue) it is sure to be a big success -- it does all it can to enable poeople to get around by bike."

Prudhomme said it was in that spirit that the port, whose slogan was "a new energy" for the Tour, had been chosen.

The Tour has previously started from the Netherlands on four occasions. Amsterdam, which in 1954 became the first non-French starting point, Scheveningen (1973), Leiden (1978) and 's-Hertogenbosch (1996). source>>>

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -- Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Treasury Secretary Albert Gallatin (1802)

Boy at center of legal dispute dies

The 12-year-old Orthodox Jewish boy at the center of a legal dispute over what constitutes the end of life has died.

Motl Brody's heart stopped beating Saturday, 11 days after doctors at Children's National Medical Center in Washington had declared the New York boy legally dead because his brain activity had ceased. Motl's parents had sued to keep their son, who is suffering from brain cancer, on life-support equipment, arguing that Jewish law does not define someone without brain activity as dead.

A District of Columbia Superior Cout hearing had been held early last week, and another scheduled for this week had been postponed at the request of the Brody family and the hospital.

The hospital had said in court filings that "scarce resources are being used for the preservation of a dead body" and treating him was "offensive to good medical ethics."

"In the end, nature took its course before the judicial system ran its course," Brody family attorney Jeffrey Zuckerman told the Washington Post. source>>>

It's understandable why parents want to get their kids into magnet schools:

or any of us who are perplexed and apalled by the unimaginable incompetency of many (if not all) large public school districts (we'll leave smaller districts for another time), take a gander at an annual ritual of idiocy in Cincinnati, Ohio, whose schools are even worse than its professional football team. That is, of course, despite spending tons of cash on a per-pupil basis -- around $13,000 for the 2005-2006 school year, or about 50 percent more than the state average.

Like most big districts, years ago Cincinnati created a series of "magnet" schools, ostensibly as a means of offering specialized curricula equally to all students but in reality a way of keeping a dwindling handful of white parents from fleeing the district. Magnets, of course, require an application process, which already biases the programs to folks with more time, resources, and social capital. But unlike other districts that have somehow managed to come up with an application process that might be even semi-rational, the Cincinnati public school district (CPS) resorts to a bizarre first-come, first-serve setup that typically results in parents camping out overnight in front of their preferred venues, like teenagers in front of concert halls in the bad old pre-Ticketmaster days.

CPS officials are hoping to convince parents it simply isn't necessary to wait in line for days, despite the hype that builds up around the [magnet] schools with outsized demand.

It's impossible to measure this year's demand in advance, said district spokeswoman Janet Walsh, but last year, parents who stood in line for an entire weekend weren't substantially more likely to secure a spot than those who arrived just a few hours early....

CPS is not publicizing the number of available seats in advance as it did last year -- something Walsh said may have created an artificially high demand.

"People saw (how few spots were open) and figured they better get there early," said Walsh. "When in fact, almost everybody who got there within a few hours of the actual start of the open-enrollment time got in."

Principals will not allow campsites to interfere with a school day either today or Tuesday, Walsh said. That could include simply banning camping altogether, Walsh said.

It's understandable why parents want to get their kids into magnet schools: Their kids get a much better education by virtually any measure. And if their kids don't get into a magnet school, they're likely to be sent to what the Cincinnati Enquirer suggests is a "struggling school that has repeatedly failed to meet federal and state achievement standards."

CPS, writes the Enquirer with hilarious understatement, "has struggled for years in finding an application method that doesn't give an unfair advantage to families with paid vacation time, traditional work hours and cars."

"Twilight" midnight tickets are selling out fast. The highly anticipated vampire flick has sold out hundreds of shows in more than 3,000 locations four days before its opening on Friday.

Online ticket sales company Fandango said that it has sold out almost 700 shows, including more than 500 midnight Thursday screenings, while MovieTickets sold more than 400 of various screening times.

They added that the Summit Entertainment film - which stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson - accounted for more than 85% of presales in recent days.

Fandango COO Rick Butler told the Hollywood Reporter, "In the age of big, studio tentpole pictures, it's a surprise to find such encouragingly strong advance ticket sales for an independent film with no established box office stars."

"That's a tribute to power of the blockbuster novel, solid word-of-mouth on the movie's early screenings and savvy Internet marketing."

"Twilight" is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Stephanie Meyer. It will be released on November 21, Friday source>>>

Ugly politics: Investigators paint landscape of corruption

Gambling trips to Las Vegas. Calls to judges for favors. A political party built on county workers putting aside their day jobs to handle party business.

The picture federal investigators appear to be trying to paint of county government in Northeast Ohio emerges from batches of federal subpoenas.

Agents want to know whether Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora and Auditor Frank Russo gained control of a cash machine that made them personally rich and helped boost the local Democratic Party.

The unstated subtext of the subpoenas is clear: How did public officials earning less than a successful plumber afford the high life, complete with gambling trips, $100 dinners at expensive steakhouses, jewelry, elaborate swimming pools and $900,000 vacation homes?

Federal investigators are probing, documents show, whether Dimora, Russo and county employee J. Kevin Kelley received gifts and favors in exchange for public contracts going to contrac- tors.

They're also investigating whether Dimora and Russo used the local Democratic Party and the County Administration Building as their personal hiring hall to surround themselves with loyalists grateful to have a job with a solid salary, good benefits and a reliable retirement plan.

Lawyers for Dimora and Russo have adamantly denied their clients have done anything wrong, and say the men are loyal public servants.

The machine that the feds apparently believe is operating in Northeast Ohio works on a simple, self-perpetuating mechanism:

In an economy where no job or pension is safe, elected officials surround themselves with county workers so grateful for the salaries that they are willing to do political work on the public dime, ensuring the party's slate of candidates continues to get elected.

Such an apparatus would keep party leaders in positions to continue influencing which companies get contracts in a town where almost every big development is subsidized by a government entity. continue>>>

Obama To Embrace School Choice For His Kids

Barack Obama's campaign was premised on the notion change will happen. But as the president-elect prepares to move into his new home at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., there is one presidential practice that seems to be standing to survive his tidal wave of change - sending his kids to private school.

Mr. Obama and his wife, Michelle, are not the only Obamas coming to town this January, as Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10, will return the age of innocence to the White House. Sasha will be the youngest child in the White House since the Kennedys resided there in the early 1960s.

But the arrival of the Obama youngsters raises questions about Mr. Obama's faith in the public school system he championed for two years on the campaign trail.

Mr. Obama's plan to revitalize the education system does not mention vouchers in any form and a decision to send his kids to private school, while denying working-class families the same right, could ruffle a few feathers early on in the Obama administration.

The Obama camp's opposition to vouchers was so fierce that when the New York Sun reported last February that the Democrat favored school vouchers, his campaign pounced seeking to discredit the story.

During a meeting with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Mr. Obama, when quested about vouchers, responded, "I will not allow my predispositions to stand in the way of making sure that our kids can learn," adding, "We're losing several generations of kids, and something has to be done."

The Obama camp responded fast and furiously.

"Sen. Obama has always been a critic of vouchers," a campaign statement read. "Throughout his career, he has voted against voucher proposals and voiced concern for siphoning off resources from our public schools."

But while the Democrat is offering to flood U.S. public schools with more resources, he appears unwilling to hand over his children to the same system he fiercely defends.

As the Obamas prepare to leave Chicago for Washington, D.C., they have been traversing the streets of D.C. looking for a school for their daughters. Where are they looking? Private schools.

This should not be a surprise, as the Obama girls went to private school while the family has lived in Chicago. Mr. Obama defended sending the two girls to the University of Chicago Lab School, by saying it was a matter of convenience, not an indictment of public schools.

"My kids have gone to the University of Chicago Lab School, a private school, because I taught there, and it was five minutes from our house. So it was the best option for our kids," Mr. Obama said during a July 2007 debate.

"But the fact is that there are some terrific public schools in Chicago that they could be going to. The problem is, is that we don't have good schools, public schools, for all kids. A U.S. Senator can get his kid into a terrific public school."

There was no mention as to why Mr. Obama did not try and get his two children into one of those "good schools."

And while the odds are the Obamas will send the kids to private school - Mrs. Obama visited Georgetown Day School and Chelsea Clinton's alma mater Sidwell Friends School last week - D.C. school officials are holding out the hope Mr. Obama will put his money where his mouth has been.

"We've gladly discussed the many educational options at DCPS, encouraged them to explore all of the alternatives and in the end will fully support whatever decision the Obamas make," the D.C. schools said in a statement released after discussions were held between public school officials and the Obamas about the possibility of the two children attending public school. source>>>

revisiting impact of money in politics

For people who like to gamble, a system that promises to deliver winners nine out of 10 times would be worth its weight in gold.

That would hold true whether you were playing the ponies or putting a few dollars down on your favorite professional football team on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Well, it should come as no surprise to anyone today that such a "system" exists in American politics - and not just because President-elect Barack Obama obliterated all previous campaign finance records by outraising and outspending Republican opponent John McCain by nearly a 2-to-1 margin on his way to the White House.

The system is simply this: Make a list of every congressional race for the House of Representatives and Senate and bet on the candidate who spent the most money.

If you had done that during the 2008 campaign, you would have been correct better than 90 percent of the time, according to figures compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics (www.opensecrets.org), a nonpartisan organization based in Washington, D.C., that tracks money in U.S. politics.

Based on an examination of all congressional races decided by midday Nov. 5, the candidates who spent the most money won 93 percent of the contests for the House and 94 percent of the races for the Senate.

In raw numbers, that means the big spenders triumphed 397 of 426 times in the House and 30 of 32 times in the Senate based on candidate spending through Oct. 15.

And in case you're thinking that may be an aberration this year, think again. In 2006, candidates who spent the most money won 94 percent of the time in the House and 73 percent of the time in the Senate; two years earlier, the figures were 98 percent and 88 percent, respectively.

"The 2008 election will go down in U.S. history as an election of firsts, but this was far from the first time that money was overwhelmingly victorious on Election Day," says Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics. "The best-funded candidates won nine out of 10 contests, and all but a few members of Congress will be returning to Washington."

In fact, incumbent top spenders did even better than the universe of candidates as a whole. Top-spending incumbents prevailed 95 percent of the time in the House and 93 percent of the time in the Senate.

Talk about the advantages of incumbency.

Sex party set to heat up Australian politics

Australia is about to get a new entry into national politics -- a party devoted to sex.

The brains behind the Australian Sex Party, which will be launched in Melbourne on Thursday, believe that politics has become too stuffy and conservative Down Under.

Describing itself as "serious about sex" the party sees itself as a political response to the sexual needs of Australians in the face of moral campaigners and prudish politicians.

Party convenor Fiona Patten, who is head of the national adult retail and entertainment lobby group the Eros Association, said the trigger had been the government's decision to place a mandatory filter on the Internet.

Under the plan, designed to shield children from online porn and violence, Internet service providers will have to filter out pornography and other material deemed inappropriate in their feeds to houses and schools.

Users wanting access to uncensored material would have to opt out of the service, the government said when it announced the plan in January.

Patten was scathing of the move, which she said would damage the porn industry, arguing that material that was deemed acceptable 20 years ago would now be banned.

"This filter actually blacklists any adult site so it means that material which is absolutely legal for an adult to buy in a newsagency in Australia, they will be prohibited from viewing it online," Patten told AFP on Monday.

To counter what she termed the conservative, Christian politicians behind such legislation in Australia, Patten said the industry had determined: "If we can't beat them, join them."

"We want to be in there putting the position which I think is probably (that held by) the majority of Australians, that, yes, by all means protect children, but do not in that way reduce the Internet to a G-rated Internet," she said.

G-rated films in Australia are approved for all audiences.

Commenting on a recent case where a company was forced to remove billboard ads for a medication promising "longer lasting sex" because of a large number of complaints, she said an "absolute fear of the word sex" had developed.

"And it's just crazy," Patten said. "Sex is as natural to us as food. It's a necessary part of our lives."

And politics, she might add. source>>>

Group hopes to shape nation's privacy policy

AT&T is funding a group run by some of the nation's top privacy experts that aims to influence policy in the Obama administration and develop best practices on privacy for businesses.

Called Future of Privacy, the organization will be announced Wednesday. Its Web site, www.futureofprivacy.org, is set to go live Monday.

One of the group's co-founders, Jules Polonetsky, said he left his job as chief privacy officer at AOL to run Future of Privacy. He also had worked at DoubleClick, which was acquired by Google last year.

Technology on the Internet has become so advanced, and privacy so uncertain, that no one knows what to do about it, Polonetsky said.

"We are at a turning point," he said. "We will either be slaves to our data or be served by our data."

AT&T did not return calls seeking comment, but the group's co-founders and another participant said AT&T had committed funding.

The group also is seeking funding from other companies and has a 23-member advisory board that includes people from Facebook, LexisNexis and advocacy groups such as the Center for Democracy and Technology. A professor and privacy adviser to former President Bill Clinton, Peter Swire, who also is advising President-elect Barack Obama, is on the board as well.

The group hopes to propose a privacy agenda for the Obama administration next week and plans to publish research and reports. One of the first topics will be to show people what happens to their data on the Internet.

"We're going to try to bring transparency and document what's going on in a way that consumers and policymakers can understand," he said. "We're going to try to drive practices that enhance consumer controls and stop squabbling about opt in and opt out."

Feinstein Expects Inauguration Scalping Bill to Pass This Week

As promised, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, introduced legislation today to criminalize the sale of tickets to the historic event on Jan. 20.

In a brief Senate floor speech this afternoon, Feinstein said the measure would make it a misdemeanor to scalp coveted tickets to President-elect Obama's swearing-in ceremony. Anyone caught doing so faces a fine, imprisonment for up to one year or both, she said.

Tickets to the inauguration are in such wildly high demand that phones in congressional offices, which hand out the tickets free of charge, are ringing incessantly. Though they're supposed to be free, inauguration tickets have been seen advertised on Craigslist, eBay and other sites for huge sums. EBay and its ticket-selling site StubHub have now agreed to prohibit the sale of inauguration tickets on their auction sites, prompting Feinstein to commend them and thank them from the Senate floor.

Feinstein said she hopes Congress will pass the legislation this week during the lame-duck session. She said she hopes Republicans will join the Democratic leadership in clearing the bill for speedy consideration. source>>>

Reagan Activists Must Stop Fairness Doctrine

As you know, I've just launched my new activist website for conservatives, ReaganAction.com

We're already making HUGE waves in political circles -- grassroots conservatives are energized, and the "loony left" is already having fits about what they realize we can do!

But you can be sure of one thing: The radical liberals will do everything in their power to SHUT US DOWN, along with every other conservative voice in America. And they're already telling the world exactly how they're going to do it:

THE "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE"

We MUST take action to STOP them NOW, before they are able to mobilize support for this insidious attempt to SILENCE CONSERVATIVES!

CLICK HERE to send "Blast Faxes" to EVERY SINGLE REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATOR who will be sitting in the next Congress, DEMANDING that they REJECT the "Fairness Doctrine" in ANY form.

The "Fairness Doctrine" -- a federal regulation requiring broadcasters to present both sides of any "controversial" issue -- was enforced by the Federal Communications Commission from 1949 to 1987. The FCC adopted it as a regulation, but it was never a law enacted by Congress.

When the rule was in place, radio and TV stations could face hefty fines if their stations aired controversial statements on public affairs without providing "equal time" to opposing viewpoints. The result was self-censorship by broadcasters who avoided politics to escape any potential government retaliation.

When this rule was dropped in 1987 under my father, Ronald Reagan, it led directly to the rise of conservative talk radio that enabled average citizens to have their voices heard across America. If it weren't for the Reagan administration dropping the "Fairness Doctrine," we would never have heard of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, Martha Zoller, Neal Boortz, Janet Folger, or the hundreds of other conservative talk radio hosts that dot the land and expose the lies and misdeeds of the Left.

You might not have even heard of me!

And THAT is why the Left wants to bring back the "Fairness Doctrine" -- this time, as a LAW.

Up until 1987, the Fairness Doctrine mandated that when a broadcast station presented one viewpoint on a "controversial" public issue, it also had to air the opposing viewpoint. Sounds "fair," right?

WRONG. The so-called "Fairness Doctrine" did nothing but stifle any real public debate on the airwaves. What station manager in his right mind would air a (profitable) conservative talk radio show for two or three hours every day, if it meant he had to also air liberal shows as well -- shows that have consistently LOST money whenever they've been tried?

Repealed by a vote of 4-0, it was concluded that the "Fairness Doctrine" had begun to inhibit political discourse, rather than enhance it.

Unity is a ‘no-go’ for President ‘O’

Hold on, America! If you think that we are no longer a "blue and red state" country because of President "O's" victory, you are naively mistaken.

Why Barack Obama supporters are so quick to call this a "landslide" or "unifying" victory for the country is ludicrous -- and plain false.

Let's return to Earth, also known as a metaphor for reality. The popular vote of this election is not so different than 2004. In that Bush victory, he attained just over 50 percent of the vote. He almost had 50 percent popularity in the debacle of the 2000 election.

In this 2008 cycle, Obama has approximately 53 percent of the popular vote.

Were there any Washington pundits and political columnists not complaining about a split American opinion last cycle?

The silence is deafening.

When President-elect Obama had his first chance at national stardom, he was toasted and revered at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. He exclaimed in his poignant keynote speech that there are no "blue states or red states -- just the United States."

Craving a unifying leader, Americans have pointed to this speech as the stalwart example of neo camaraderie in a brand new century of the American story.

Sorry, soon-to-be President "O," but your now famous speech was "just words."

Why is America still divided?

Obama's record indicates extreme leftism.

Great speeches of "hope" and "change" for a better tomorrow does not remove the facts of a sparse and extreme record -- a record that when compared to "new beginning" rhetoric indicates paradoxical reality.

Enter a "maverick," John McCain, a supposedly centrist candidate who could have actually made us a country of purple tint.

Let me first recognize the huge elephant in the room for McCain: George W. Bush.

Despite the "he voted with Bush 90 percent of the time" rant by liberals, McCain is lauded by Democratic Party leaders as an "honorable man," as Hillary Clinton called him at this year's Democratic National Convention.

Obama acts presidential even as he lays low

The man once referred to by a rival campaign as "the biggest celebrity in the world" has intentionally been keeping a very low profile in the awkward limbo period between Election Day and his inauguration on January 20.

But on Monday President-Elect Barack Obama stepped out a little and acted decidedly presidential in the middle of a disaster in California.

Obama called Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and L.A. Mayor Antonio Villraigosa "to express his concern over the wildfires and to receive an update on the situation," according to a statement released by the Obama transition team Monday.

In the nearly two weeks since Election Day, Obama has taken great pains to make it clear that President Bush remains in charge of the country and its affairs until Obama's swearing in next month. At his first press conference as president-elect, Obama stressed that the country only has one president at a time and, Obama did not participate in the recent economic summit of world leaders convened to discuss a coordinated response to the financial crisis that has roiled global securities and credit markets. source>>>

Late U.S. Release Brings James Bond $70.4 Million

He may have failed to win critical acclaim, but James Bond still is the top entertainer for moviegoers. The latest 007 movie, "Quantum of Solace," saw a No. 1 debut at the North American box office this weekend, by selling an estimated $70.4 million in tickets and setting an opening-weekend record for the long established franchise, according to studio estimates released on Sunday. With such earnings, the Bond flick easily outshone the previous first-weekend record for a 007 film, held by 2002's "Die Another Day," starring the legendary Pierce Brosnan.

In addition, "Quantum of Solace" took in almost $30 million more than its prequel, 2006's "Casino Royale," which introduced actor Daniel Craig as the new James Bond, notwithstanding fans and critics' initial negative comments.

The most recent Bond movie was made available overseas in late October by MGM and Sony and was released in the United States only this Friday, after topping box offices everywhere. Therefore, this measure may have had a significant contribution to the impressive domestic sales, which were also boosted by the fact that "Quantum of Solace" was the only film that saw a North American release over the weekend.

The movie's worldwide cumulative gross through Sunday was $322 million, with approximately $64.1 million in Britain and about $26 million in Germany.

"Quantum of Solace" helped Hollywood total revenues register an increase of 54 percent compared to the same weekend last year, when "Beowulf" was No. 1 at the box office with $27.5 million. The top 12 films grossed $142.9 million, with strong earnings by "Quantum of Solace" and family flick "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa."

An elder Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life

An elder Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me...It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, pride and superiority. The other wolf stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside of you and every other person too."

They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?" The old Cherokee simply replied..."The one I feed." -- Anonymous

Nintendo: Wii Music can beat Guitar Hero and Rock Band 2

Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, nicknamed the "godfather of videogames," has hit a new note with "Wii Music," hoping to attract new players and fulfil his frustrated musical ambitions.

Miyamoto, the creator of hit games like "Mario," "Donkey Kong, and "Nintendogs," said "Wii Music" was part of Nintendo's original plan to introduce a casual audience to gaming with the Wii console, people who might not otherwise play games.

"When we created the Wii, we identified areas that would appeal to everyone in the household," Miyamoto told Reuters. "One was sports, another was fitness, and one was music."

"Wii Sports" is the pack-in game for the Wii console which is currently the most popular game system in the world.

Miyamoto launched "Wii Fit" earlier this year with a balance board so players can take part in yoga and other forms of exercise - then he turned his hand to "Wii Music,"tuning into the popular music game genre that didn't exist five years ago.

For Miyamoto, 55, it was also a personal mission as he has always harbored musical ambitions.

For the past 30 years, when he wasn't creating the world's most famous plumber, Mario, or revolutionizing the gaming demographic with Nintendo DS or Wii, Miyamoto has been playing musical instruments like the saxophone.

The cost of tickets is now cheaper

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 14, 2008 -- The Ticket Specialists have unveiled a new incentive that voids the cost of shipping. The new break nullifies the surprise costs that often times come at checkout with many secondary ticket brokers. Use code: FreeShip at checkout.

The enticement is just the latest of a number of actions taken by the Ticket Specialists to make the overall experience of the customer more enjoyable. The ticket broker has already redesigned the Web site to be both more visually appealing and easier to navigate. With searches available by event, city, or venue, any search is possible with far less hassle and an improved layout.

A blog was added this fall to offer a place for recent news and to create a forum for discussion between customers or between the ticket brokers themselves and those searching for the latest updates.

"This new program will be much appreciated in the current economic climate," Joel Sullivan, vice president of the Ticket Specialists. "People are, now more than ever, searching for the most affordable options for everything, including entertainment. We strive to provide the best possible services, tickets, and prices in the secondary ticket market and this break on shipping and handling is the just the latest example."

In addition to the popular events, the Ticket Specialists' Web site includes a city and venue guide, so consumers looking for new shows and events in their city can search without having to wait for an announcement on the radio or in the newspaper.

"We found that we had to upgrade the site to best display the wide range of products and search options that set us apart from other ticket brokers," Joel Sullivan, Ticket Specialists vice president, said. "We added the blog because we wanted a more personal interaction with our customers. The blog gives us the chance to talk directly to them, offering a look to the weekend and keeping them informed of the latest developments."

Additional information for the latest incentive or the new Web site developments at www.ticketspecialists.com is available. Please contact Joel Sullivan with any questions or requests. source>>>

National interest goes above politics,, Ask Sen. Joe Lieberman

finds himself a man without a political home.

Democrats, their Senate majority bolstered, want to punish him for not only endorsing Republican John McCain but also addressing last summer's GOP convention -- where he openly criticized Barack Obama. That was especially embarrassing for the Democrats, given that Lieberman was their vice-presidential nominee in 2000.

In retaliation, the party wants to strip him of his Homeland Security Committee chairmanship. During a private meeting, Majority Leader Harry Reid reportedly called on Lieberman to accept a less prestigious assignment.

The Connecticut senator, to his credit, rejected Reid's demand.

Now he's reportedly in talks with Minority Leader Mitch McConnell about joining the GOP lineup (he officially became an independent after the 2006 election, although he caucuses with the Democrats).

But that's a step Lieberman insists he doesn't want to take.

And, frankly, to expel him would be an act of mean-spiritedness that runs sharply counter to the kind of bipartisanship upon which Obama campaigned.

After all, on issues other than the War on Terror, he has voted in lockstep with the Democrats. (Apparently, a 90 percent-plus voting record isn't proof of loyalty.) And it should be noted that it was his vote that gave the Democrats a Senate majority for the last two years.

But when it comes to national security, Lieberman remains one of a vanishing breed of Democrats who understand that America needs to remain strong and vigorous.

More important, Lieberman is one of Washington's few truly principled legislators; he steadfastly refuses to compromise his beliefs on behalf of expediency.

In 2006, that stance cost him the Democratic Senate nomination and, indeed, jeopardized his seat. Two years later, it led him to cross party lines to endorse the candidate he felt could best lead this country.

It remains to be seen whether Democrats will be petty enough to strip Lieberman's chairmanship.

Whatever happens, no one should lose sight of the fact that Joe Lieberman has consistently put the national interest ahead of his own political needs.

He is, in every way, a profile in courage. source>>>

Will religion cause the next Civil War?

I keep thinking about Abraham Lincoln's famous quote "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I did not realize that he had taken it from the teachings of Jesus (Matthew 12:25) "And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand."

As we begin to make the transition into a change in government, I worry that the polarization in this country will continue, that we will continue to be a "house divided", due to differing religious, political & cultural views. I was fortunate in that I grew up in a bipartisan household. My Dad, who was a doctor, was a Republican. My mother was a Democrat. During the Depression, her father, a general contractor, was in charge of building the Pennsylvania Turnpike under the WPA. As a result, I learned about personal responsibility, as well as social responsibility. I was taught that both sides had to work together. Both of my parents were extremely religious, but they taught me that religion and politics were to be kept separate, that not everyone shared the same views. They taught me to respect differences of opinion.

What is most troubling to me is that it appears that the cause of a great deal of the polarization of our country has been caused by the injection of politics into religion. It continues to amaze me that what should bring us together -- a love of God, a common humanity, whatever you want to call it, is what tends to divide us the most.

John McCain gave a very gracious concession speech & then Barack Obama gave a very inspirational acceptance speech. It seemed as though the divide might start to be healed. The next day I heard Bay Buchanan say on CNN, "If Obama doesn't do what we want him to do, we will fight him the whole way." In essence, remain a "house divided." How is fighting with someone is a "Christian" value?" No matter if you are Mormon (as she is), Catholic, Evangelical, Protestant, etc. It just doesn't make sense.

I listened to pundits on both sides, heard candidate share their views, their plans, etc. I did my best to keep an open mind. However I tune out when I am preached at, when a religious agenda is injected into politics, especially when the agendas are as extreme as those of Rousas John Rushdoony or Paul Weyrich, whose evangelical followers want to turn the United States into a theocracy. I heard Tim Daly say on Bill Maher several weeks ago that terrorists know that they cannot destroy us. However they know they can cause us to destroy ourselves. That is exactly what extreme partisianship has been doing to this country for years.

It is troubling to hear the commentators on the right such as Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly & Rush Limbaugh immediately begin their attacks on the new administration, before it even comes into power. So then the other side, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow & Chris Matthews must provide the counterpoint & defend the left. And the Obama administration hasn't come into power yet. I long for the days when news was news -- not biased towards a particular point of view.
