Settlement between Pennsylvania university, Christian group over speech codes
A Pennsylvania university and a student Christian organization have reached a settlement after the student senate, citing a university speech code, expelled the organization in February. The Christian Fellowship of Shippensburg University has faced opposition because it permits only Christians to be members and because it permits only men to be leaders. In 2004, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction against a university speech code that banned speech perceived as racist, sexist, or homophobic. As part of the October 23 settlement, the university has agreed to drop the speech code, according to the Alliance Defense Fund. source>>>
