U.N. envoy Expresses outraged over latest Christian killings in Mosul
The United Nations' top envoy in Iraq expressed his "shock and outrage" over the killings of two Christian sisters in Mosul on Wednesday, the latest incident of anti-Christian violence in the northern Iraqi city.
"This cowardly attack came hours after the UN High Commissioner for Refugees reported that some recently displaced Christian families are beginning to return to Mosul as the security situation in the city shows signs of improvement," according to a statement from envoy Staffan de Mistura.
More than half of Mosul's Christian population has fled the city following a campaign of killings and intimidation, according to the United Nations. The violence had tapered off in recent weeks, after 14 Iraqi Christians were killed in the city last month. source>>>
